Paléosite

At the Paléosite in Saint-Césaire, Prehistory is something you experience as much as you discover. Located on one of the major archaeological sites associated with Neanderthals, the site offers lively activities and an immersive journey into the origins of humanity. With family or friends, the visit combines museum spaces, an audiovisual trail, demonstrations, and hands-on workshops.

A place for experimentation and leisure (fire lighting, flint knapping, participatory workshops, etc.), featuring reconstructions of prehistoric habitats and fauna — all waiting to be explored!

In 2026, the site unveils a brand-new cinematic trail offering a unique experience centered on Neanderthal Man and Pierrette, the Neanderthal woman of Saint-Césaire. An enriching and accessible outing for everyone, designed to help visitors understand, experiment, and marvel. (Approximately 3 to 4 hours for the visit, café-restaurant on site.)

During school holidays, also enjoy a special program with brand-new activities: challenges, workshops, and investigative games.
